I recently had the pleasure of co-hosting a workshop for a robust group of 5th graders with my friend and colleague, Dr. Kerri Howerton. We were asked to come to speak to our children's classes after their unit on nutrition.
We. Had. A. Blast!!!
The class was fascinated by the 5 C's of digestion. Are you familiar with these? Psst! It all starts before your very first bite! The whole process continues beyond the toilet. You can imagine the roars of laughter when we explained the importance of examining their stools. 5th grade boys are ruthless when it comes to poop jokes!
As an incentive for being such great listeners, our kids made energy bites to share with their friends. These are super tasty and simple enough for 5th graders to put together on their own.
Let's get back to digestion.
Wouldn't it be amazing to not worry about gas, bloating, belching, constipation/diarrhea, and super-smelly stools?! (Oh ya-I'm a nurse literally nothing grosses me out!) It's a fact of life for so many people, but the reality is, you don't have to live like that!!
